Company Registration Statistics

Local limited companies can be classified into private companies and non-private companies. Both types of companies can be limited by shares or limited by guarantee. The following shows the total number of private and non-private companies on register at end of each year from 1997 to 2013.

本地有限公司可分為私人或非私人，這兩類公司又可再分為股份或擔保。以下列出 1997-2013 年每年年底時登記冊上的公司總數。

After 3 March 2014, companies limited by guarantee (whether private or non-private) became a separate category of companies. Non-private companies are expressly referred to as "public companies" which are defined to mean companies other than private companies or guarantee companies. The following shows the total number of local companies on register at end of each year from 2014 to 2016.
